VISITORS WELCOME TO JEWELS OF THE SEA EXHIBITION AT MSU

An exhibition entitled Jewels of the Sea was opened at the MSU Science Museum, Faculty of Science on March 2^nd by MSU President Dr. Supachai Samappito. The exhibition is a collaboration between MSU Faculty of Science and the National Science Museum of Thailand.

The exhibition marked the signing of technical collaborative agreements between MSU and the National Science Museum for human resource development in the fields of survey research, learning development , resources and management.

The agreement includes the promotion of academic knowledge through recognising the importance of publication and networking in transferring knowledge.

A most interesting facet of the agreement is to exchange exhibitions on a yearly basis with the Jewels of the Sea currently exchanged with the Dinosaur Skeleton exhibition.

The Jewels of the Sea exhibition is currently available for viewing during office hours at the MSU Science Museum, Faculty of Science. ....more pics

ONE UNIVERSITY, ONE PROVINCE PROJECT AT BAN HUAY SUN

On April 19 MSU Vice President for Special Affairs Suracha Amornpan opened a community service project at Ban Huay Sun in the Kantawaricha district. The project comes under the national initiative of ‘One University, One Province’, a program aiming to create sustainable development at a community level.

The program commencing at Ban Huay Sun includes the utilisation of the transfer of academic knowledge from the MSU Faculty of Science to the grass roots level. It encourages and teaches local community members in household management revenue, organic vegetable farming and the production of charcoal briquettes.

Surplus produce will be sold at the MSU markets in an effort to increase income and alleviate debt.

The initiative is an extension of the popular and well accepted King’s sufficiency economy philosophy. More than one hundred people attended demonstrations at the event which should ensure the program gets off to a flying start. ... more pics

BAMBOO FIBRE EXPORT POSSIBILITIES

On March 9 MSU President Dr. Supachai Samappito, representatives of MSU’s  Northeast Institute of Arts and Culture and Silk innovation Centre welcomed Mr. Yasuo Kihira of Daiko Menka Co. Ltd. of Japan to Mahasarakham University.

After visiting the Silk Innovation Centre silk processing laboratories and the Northeast Institute of Arts Museum Mr. Kahira met with lecturers and staff of MSU Center in Collaboration with Industry (UIC) to discuss the possibilities of marketing products created from bamboo fibre  and value added silk products in Japan. The value adding to raw bamboo in the creation of bamboo fibre products is a result of research conducted at the MSU Northeastern Institute of Arts and Culture. .... more pics
