DR. SUPACHAI HOSTS MSU NEW YEAR PARTY

On December 29 MSU President Associate Professor Dr. Supachai Samappito hosted the annual New Year party for MSU personnel. The party was held on the shores of the little lake in front of the new conference and staff facility which has popularly been nicknamed ‘The Club’.
The MSU New Year Party is a popular event  held just before the New Year holiday period. Many people travel back to their homes in any of the nineteen Isan provinces  serviced by MSU for New Year celebrations with family.








More than a thousand people partook in a New Year feast and were entertained with the presentation of a large array of lucky door prizes presented in good humour and festive spirit from a floating stage on the little lake. The New Year party was the ideal way for MSU personnel to get together and unwind and to after all of  their efforts during 2010. ... more pics

PRINCESS MAHA CHAKRI SIRINDHORN MSU GRADUATION CEREMONY

On December 22 HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the graduation ceremony for over eight thousand students who graduated from Mahasarakham University in the year 2010.
Thailand may be unique in that every student attaining a degree at a University in Thailand is presented with their degree at a formal graduation ceremony by a member of the Royal Family.
Representing Thailand’s beloved King Rama IX, His Royal Highness   Bhumibol Adulyadej, Princess Siridnhorn is the very popular Royal Patron of Mahasarakham University.


Graduation Day at Mahasarakham University is one of great import with graduation certificates personally handed to each student by the Princess in afternoon and morning sessions. The sight of the gymnasium filled to capacity in a sea of robed students and academics is truly a wonderful sight to behold. Those in attendance at the graduation ceremony cannot help but to be moved by the pride showing on each students face as they receive their degrees.
Princess Sirindhorn was also introduced to some of the seventy Cambodian students who attend MSU under the Princess Sirindhorn Scholarship Project. The goodwill project provides these young Cambodian people with the opportunity to come to MSU to study for their degree. ... more pics

PREECHA SAKORN ‘JUST PLAIN NATURAL’ SHORT FILM AWARD

MSU Information Science lecturer Preecha Sakorn     (left in picture) has received an honourable mention at the recent National Education Short Film Festival shown at SF Central World Cinema Bangkok.
Sakorn’s ten minute film, Just Plain Natural, was shot on location in Koofah National Park is a film regarding natural resources. Although the narrative is in Thai, English speakers will still be able to enjoy the scenery and understand a little of the storyline from the imagery.
Just Plain Natural and two other of Sakorn’s short films, The Transistor Radio (with English subtitles) and The Novices part I and part 2 (winner of an Excellence Award at the Tokyo Video Festival in 2007) are available to be viewed on Youtube (youtube search term = preesart).  ... more pics
